Affordable Tooth Extractions in Tulsa

Tooth extraction is the process of removing teeth from the jaw bone. At Stonewood Hills OMS, there are many reasons why a tooth needs to be removed including infection, risk of infection, crowding in the mouth, tooth decay and trauma, as well as wisdom teeth removal. Whatever the reason may be, it is important to discuss all your options with a trained medical professional.

During your consultation, we will take X-rays so that we know the best way to extract the tooth with minimal impact to the rest of the mouth. Your tooth extraction can either be simple or surgical, depending on whether your tooth is visible or impacted. We will also discuss your sedation and anaesthesia options to ensure you are as comfortable as possible during the procedure.

A simple extraction uses local anesthetic, which numbs the area around the tooth so you only feel pressure and no pain. During the procedure you will feel the oral surgery rock the tooth back and forth until there is enough give to pull the tooth out. Again, because the area is numb you will feel no pain.

If the tooth is snuck/impacted, a surgical extraction is used. This type of extraction requires both local anesthesia and intravenous anesthesia. The intravenous anesthesia will calm you for the procedure. You may also receive general anesthesia which will make you unconscious during the procedure. During a surgical extraction, the oral surgeon will cut into your gum to expose the tooth and extract it.

The recovery process usually takes a few days after a tooth extraction. You can expect your mouth to be swollen to a few days. You will also be given medication to minimize any pain. It is strongly recommended that you do not rinse, spit, or suck for 24 hours after the procedure to avoid dislodging the blood clot. You should also sleep with your head elevated rather than laying flat.
